What is a crown?
A crown or a cap is a cover for a decayed or damaged tooth made of porcelain or zirconia, and it is used when a porcelain veneer or a porcelain onlay are cannot cover the damage of the tooth.
What a crown is composed of ?
In our practice all crowns on the front teeth are made out entirely of porcelain. Also called all-ceramic crowns or metal-free crowns, these restorations offer excellent esthetics since they are white and they mimic the natural tooth precisely. Furthermore, they are biocompatible with the tooth’s surrounding tissues.
Regarding the back teeth, all crowns are made out entirely of zirconia, a material that tolerates the excessive occlusal forces of the back teeth.
What is the bridge?
There are some few cases where the implant is not indicated for the replacement of one or more teeth.
The bridge is an alternative treatment option, which unfortunately requires drilling of the adjacent teeth that may be healthy. Also, there is a limitation of how many teeth a bridge can replace.
Again, the material of choice is the zirconia.
